Lisa B. Nelson

Lisa’s family now consists of her two teenage children, and her adventurous mother, a Norwegian immigrant who brought Lisa to Anchorage almost 50 years ago.  Her husband, the late Senator Tim Kelly, died on August 17, 2009.

Lisa attended Pacific Lutheran University and graduated from Boston University. Lisa graduated from Hastings College of Law at the University of California, in 1981. From there she went on to serve our State as an Assistant Attorney General in the Central Office Criminal Division in Juneau. After two years in Juneau she then went to work at the District Attorney’s Office here in Anchorage, as a prosecutor. After four years prosecuting DUIs to homicides, she then became an Assistant Attorney General in the Human Services Section in 1990, doing child protection prosecution. After 23 years of service with the state, Lisa retired and has now entered private practice. She is a true servant of our community. She even was the 2003 Alaska recipient of the National Commissioner’s Award from the Administration on Children Youth and Families for her outstanding work in the child protection field.

Specializing in Adoptions she loves to see the joy in new parents’ eyes when they hear the Judge formally announce that the child is theirs.  Lisa has worked helping children and families come together for over 20 years, and continues to see the joy in what she does each and every day.  Lisa is dedicated to uniting families.
